The Financial Services Authority is the regulator for the life assurance companies, banks and building societies. You have probably received one of their leaflets when the endowment shortfall letter arrived but if not you can access their website at www.fsa.gov.uk

They will also be able to provide information on the company or person who sold the policy if you go to their website and click on consumer help/firm or person check.

The Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to review your case, but only if it has already been turned down by the company concerned. Effectively you will have to start the whole process again. Their website address is www.fos.org.uk. From here you can download forms and further information on how to appeal your case.

The Consumers Association can also provide you with information on how to complain yourself, but although this is quite useful for many people it does not cover all the intricacies of financial services products and providers.
